The Second Month

It is already the second month of the year, so naturally I thought perhaps I'd better get starting with my goals for this year, as Christmas Is Coming!!

I decided to take away two negative things and add two positive things.

Negative things must include dairy. Seeing as I have an intolorence I shouldn't be having it, and I always have way too much. (Yes, this includes chocolate.)

The second negative is another food item, food obviously being my biggest problem: Carbs! White bread is so easy to munch on. No more of that, please. White bread to be replaced by Provita, white rice to be replaced by wholewheat basmati if I must have rice at all, popcorn completely out, baby potatos will replace the fully grown variety.

Now to think of two positive things to take up.  Well, a relatively easy one is to make sure I do half an hour on the Wii Fit every day. Exercise is good for the soul, oh and of course the body. So that's the easy one to think up. With any luck it will also be easy to stick to.

The second positive addition is going to be more difficult - give whatever I do 100% of my attention. Not so easy, but I'm willing to give it a try.

And those are my thoughts this morning, as I try to drag myself into the world of the fully awake.

What's the point of a veggie wrap?

I promised to blog this year, and here it is. 

This week:     My Wii Fit is moaning at me for not using it enough.
                     I have had two nights of almost no sleep and one night of way too much. None were helpful.
                     I decided to spice up my Vegetarian Wraps with some Chicken!!

I have yet to find a vegetarian wrap recipe that looks like I want to eat it. Actually - let me amend that. There was one that had a peanut satay sauce with it, and that made it interesting, but Andrew won't eat peanut butter so I'll have to wait until he's out to try it.  Veggie Wraps seem to be grated cucumber, grated carrot, lettuce, tomato, onion and/or peppers, with drizzled balsamic vinegar.  I don't see the point. 

Anyway last night we did the cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and onion, with some added stir fried chicken and some nice hot chilli salsa.  I guess I could have tried to leave out the chicken but still add the salsa.

So... anyone who reads this.... do you know of an interesting veggie wrap recipe?

And while I'm asking questions... Does anyone know what section of a supermarket you would find a black bean?  I have a veggie burger recipe that uses mashed black beans instead of mince, but I cannot locate said black beans anywhere. I don't even know if I'm looking for something dried, canned or fresh. Any clues?

This is all Andrew's fault, as he has started again with the "we should eat vegetarian meals twice a week" thing.

Starting again, again

I am a self-confessed habitual starter-overer.  My record for keeping to any meal plan is now a wopping 5 days. (Then the weekend came, and with it, junk food!)

But today is a new day (again), mostly prompted by my checking my diary and discovering with horror that my next trip to the dietician is on Monday - a mere 5 days away.

I can tell my dietician that I've lost 1.5% of body fat, according to the machine at the gym, but no weight I'm afraid.

So the plan for the next 5 days, starting today.....
1) BREAKFAST - very important!!  I binge at lunch time if I don't eat breakfast.
2) DRINK - lots of liquid. This helps with digestion, as well as making you cope with gym better.
3) GYM - missed this morning (lazy!) but committed to Friday and Monday. Should be doing at least three times per week.
4) No Doritos!!!!!!!!! This is important.  I went shopping yesterday and bought Vita Snacks, for heaven's sake. What is my life becoming??
5) Try to eat for one instead of for two.  (aka When the meal is for 4, put half away before you start eating)
6) Low GI everything. Do not even look at anything high GI or it may become fat by osmosis.
7) VEGGIES - lots of low GI veggies - green, white or yellow, never orange.

Well, 5 days is my record, so let's see if I can beat it.

Bitter Sweet

Yes, I know, I am meant to be blogging at least twice a week!!  Who has the time?

Well, after a 4 days of very very good eating habits and then 3 days of very very bad eating, I discover the following today at....wait for it.... gym!

1) I have not put on any weight - sweet! 
2) I have not lost any weight - not so sweet.
3) I can in fact get up in the morning and go to gym!
4) I can even walk to gym (2km downhill) and not pass out on the way back (2km uphill)!
5) I must I must I must try to stick to my eating plan!

So, my aim for the next 7 days, starting today, is to stick to my eating plan, go walk to gym 3 times, and drink loads of liquid (and ginger tea) to get rid of that puffy feeling.
